For MCSA Windows Server 2012 - 70-411: Administering Windows Server 2012, VLab Lesson 09: Managing Active Directory Services, Activity 9-2 is broken as written.
In step 1 it says to:
“a) Create a global group called IT and add Administrator as a member.
b) Add HelenN to the administrators group.”
In step 3 it says to:
“z) On the Delegation of RODC Installation and Administration page, in the Group or user field, type Fuller\IT and then select Next.”
Then in step 4, while installing the RDOC, it says to:
“l) In the Windows Security window, type Fuller\HelenN for the username and !pass1234 as a password, and then select OK.
m) In the Select a domain from the forest window, select fuller.local, and then select OK.”
This doesn’t work; the AD deployment wizard gives an error about the user name and password.
I got the lab to work by creating a new user and adding that user to the IT group. I tried at first to add HelenN to the IT group, but that still caused a username/password error. I even reset that account’s password (which is difficult because there is a strict password settings container assigned to her OU) and it still caused an error. Never figured that out, but like I said, creating a new user and adding them to the IT group allows the lab to be completed.
