Solved Add Printer Error

cannot open add printer. remote process call failed.
Hey, This sometimes happens when the print spooler service someone doesn't start but check and verify it's supposed to be automatically started but it may not be, it isn't mark it do so, then restart the computer to make sure it automatically starts and try to add your printer..
-
Open your services consoles (services.msc)
-
scroll down to print spooler and right click and select properties
-
make sure that it's set to automatic
-
start the service
-
then reboot and sign in
-
retry adding the printer.
Let us know here how it worked ....or failed to work and we'll try to help!

I did what you suggested but the spooler just won't work and when I manually turn the spooler on it gives me an error message saying, "cant add printer, the remote procedure call failed." Thoughts on how to remedy this?
-
There's a couple of possibilities here: One, the printer driver has corrupted some how and won't allow the print spooler to start. Two, the print spooler files have also become corrupt. we must eliminate one error at a time.
First, you can try to reinstall the print driver. Make sure you get the print driver from the manufacturer and not a 3rd party source. These drivers are normally testing to work.
If you can restart the spooler then, the problem was the driver corruption. If the driver doesn't allow the print spooler to start then we move on to the following:
-
in Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS
-
Delete all files and folder within the PRINTERS folder but not the folder itself.
-
Go to the
services.msc
and try to restart the spooler service. the spooler service should start.
Please try the above as well, I can't guarantee it will work but try it and lets see if it helps!

Ok so i tried to install the print driver and they don't have a driver for Windows 10. Could that be the issue. Because before i upgraded to windows 10 it was working fine on 7 professional
-
it is possible that this could be a problem but not the only problem. I would see if I could fine at least a Windows 8.1 driver. The other thing I just thought about is verify that if you're running a 64 bit Windows 10 machine, you're also trying to install a 64 bit version of the print driver as well since a 32 bit driver won't work with it.

and im using windows 10

Hey Gerald,
Thank you for providing the model of your laptop. The HP ProBook 6560B Notebook has 32bit Windows as well as 64bit Windows offerings so the architecture is 64 Bit:
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02782536#N103A2So we will need to tell which OS architecture you currently have installed, you can go to the System Control panel ( Control Panel > Security and Security > System) and there are four sections Windows edition, System, Computer Name and Windows activation, look for the System section under System type, let us know if your OS is 32/64Bit.
The next thing is can you look at the printer you are having the driver error and let us know the model of the printer.... these two things:
1- 32 bit vs 64 bit Windows 10 OS?
2- The model type/number of your printerBest Regards,

system type is a 64 bit operating system, x64-based processor and the printer is konica c353
-
Hey Gerald,
I have located a driver download page for Window 10 64 Bit, however you will have to use the search field to narrow the search:
1- Browse to http://www.biz.konicaminolta.com/download/driver.html#mainContents
2- In the Choose Product field look for Bizhub C353 and click Go
3- From the Driver tab select English and in the Choose Operating System choose Windows 10 (64Bit)
4- After the screen refreshes under Universal Printer Driver download the current PCL6 and PostScript drivers.I hope this helps you sir! If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask.
