On the CompTIA Fundamentals - Networking - Compare Connections video you mentioned when updated router firmware to disconnect/power off clients. Does this include my cable providers set top boxes as I do see them under my router settings and they do have an internal IP address?

I think it would be safe for you to simply disconnect all from the device as the router will reboot at some point. it shouldn't matter if they lose the ip address if your router is is also a DHCP server. Your devices will probably maintain that lease, unless it's at the end of the lease period. Even so, when it reboots and comes back online, your router will probably issue the IP address again to those devices.
