Besides fundamentals, where is a good starting point? or a good couple certification's to go for first in general

Starting point
-
This is dependent on two influences:
- Your previous experience and comfort with technology. For example, if you're already familiar working with computing hardware and using computers vs you've only been working with computers really using just a couple of programs as part of your job.
If you're looking to start a career as an IT Professional, it is always a safe bet to earn the CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ certifications along with Speciality in an Operating System like Windows 10. These will provide you with the solid skill set for you to start an entry level technician job then move your way up toward a System Admin or Network Admin, Customer Support etc.
- Your goal in achieving a certification! For example, is this because my job requires it vs I know this certification will help me to get the job or career that I'm looking to get!
If you're trying to get ahead, this will lead you to the more specialized areas. For example, Cisco or Microsoft. Each of these also have from the basics foundational concepts from their perspectives to the incredibly detailed and advanced levels of technology understanding.
