I'm sorry that I didn't see this post. I try to answer as many as I can and sometimes a few do slip through. My humblest apologies.
We are in the middle of setting up Office 365 and the admin (not me) is having some problems with synchronizing our on-premise AD with the Azure Directory. I want to help, so I just listened to this section: "Implement and manage identities by using Azure Active Directory Synchronization (AADSync)".
When the directory synchronization steps are complete, and the on-premise AD is the SOA, will all the users listed in the Office 365 Admin Center be visible in the email Directory without having to any other extra steps?
If each user has an Office365 subscription with Exchange Online available, I believe this to be true but I would have to test it out. I've got to wait until I complete the current show before I can do this though. sorry.
Our Office 365 admin was told by a Microsoft technician that we had to create duplicate contact records, derived from the domain user accounts, so the Office 365 email Directory would list everyone. This didn't make sense to me, which is why I listened to this course.
It's strange but true what the technician said, you're really logging in to two different account that are just synchronized. If you started with the on-premises AD and synchronized up to Azure, you're really creating a duplicate account there. But if you started with the Cloud, and synchronize, then the accounts will not synchronize down to your on-premises AD.
Also, if a user is removed from the on-premise AD, will that user be removed from the Office 365 Directory?
Yes, but only in that direction if you've used the synchronization tool to synchronize.
If the answer is covered in another course, please let me know. I do plan to finish the 70-346 course.
We're in the middle of producing the 70-347 course but after this is done I will probably do the synchronization with the AAD connect tool. When the 70-346 show was recorded the tool wasn't available and microsoft wasn't sure when the tool would be released and we still had to complete the show. But
Thank you.
