@Adam-Tyler said in HSRP failover question:
Hello, I need some clarification on HSRP groups please. I thought all interfaces that were included in an HSRP group were forced to failover at once?
So if you have gi0/0 and gi0/1 in the same HSRP group and you shut the gi0/0 interface down, gi0/1 would failover to the other router too?

Great question! It's not instaneous in its reaction to a failure. In HSRP the standby
router will take over only after the holddown timer expires
(approximately missing 3 hellos from active
router, by default). This is influenced in real implementation by routing protocol convergence timers and even HSRP timers configured. If everything is left to defaults then failover becomes automatic but not instanteous.
