Hello good people.
If I have Network+, do I still have to do CCENT if heading towards CCNA?
Thank you
You have two options for the CCNA regardless of your CompTIA Network+ certification.
Because Cisco is vendor specific, they want you to learn their terminology, their equipment, they're way of looking at things. The Network+ will do nothing but make it easier for you on your way to the CCNA R+S.
The path of to ease into the CCNA is designed two fold.
For those that have previous Cisco Routing and Switching experience, you can take the 200-125, a single exam experience. Exam note: you must be fast, you must be fast at subnetting as well. You have to know the cisco commands quickly and accurately.
If you do not have previous Cisco Routing and Switching experience, then pursuing the two exam route is the better way to go. You still must be fast and accurate but you have the body of knowledge spread over two exams which makes it easier for most.
So you don't technically have to do the CCENT but taking the 200-125 exam is daunting for many people. The two exam path is less daunting but still a ton of material.
A word from Todd Lammle on this is "Don't do the combined 200-125 exam." That was his final word.
