Solved .NET Framework 3.5

Hi,

I am trying to enable the .NET Framework 3.5 but getting error (08x0073701).

I have tried deploying using DISM.

Dism /online /enable-feature /feauturename:NetFX3 /All /Source:D:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

But get as far as 29.0%

Error 14081

I have checked if it's due to the security updates KB2966826 27 & 28 but they are not installed.

Please provide some additional details so that we can help. What operating system are you using (2008(r2), 2012(r2), or 2016)?

Please try the following on your machine.

Look at Windows updates. Please try to uninstall Any and Every possible .net 3.5 update until you're only left with default .net 3.5. Essentially, all updates related to .net 3.5 regardless of the ones articles are pointing to be the cause.

Then try to install again after reboot! mark errors and post.them here. thanks!

I have uninstalled all .net 3.5 updates I can find also Visual Studio, rebooted the PC but still getting the following error when try to enable the feature: 0x80073701

Encase I have missed any updates, would you know the KB's?

I think you got them all. According to that error code you' have "Assembly Missing" error. Try to repair the OS by either: reinstalling or running from administrative cmd: SFC/scannow.

try and see if you can enable it through control panel first:

`Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows freatures on or off > then ".NET framework 3.5 advanced services"

If this is not working then, you can use

run this one. Verify everything is working. If not, report errors again and we'll see this is a slow but progressive process. I wish there was an easy fix.

"If you have the ability, try from an computer or VM that has a fresh install of Windows 8.1 pro on it and see what happens there too. if it works. Then it's a corruption of something with your current working machine."

I just read somewhere, someone posted to remove this from group policy for Windows Updates if you haven't tried it yet. That guy posted that as soon as he did this he was able to update.

I didn't ask about Group Policy so, I'm going to cover my basis here too.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried the SFC /scannow but no reported errors are found on the machine. I get the same error via Control Panel. I believe I may have to initiate a reinstall and then try enabling 3.5 before any Windows updates are applied.

I have just managed to enable the feature through Control Panel on another machine that has a clean Installation.
