Hi:
I am using virtual box for the CompTIA studies and was wondering is there is a way of setting up a virtual router and virtual switch. (I would like to be able to subnet my virtual network).

This is not going to work the way, I think you're thinking about. There are technologies out there, GNS3, that will emulate a Cisco router. But there is not a way to virtualize a switch because a switch relies on ASICS to work that technology cannot be emulated.
Built into VirtualBox is a simple switch technology that you use to connect a couple to few VMs to the same subnet. But this is not really configurable that will help you in your studies.
If you have a Cisco IOS version for 7200 or 2691 something similar, you can emulate the router operation in GNS3. You can use the cloud connection in GNS3 to connect to a VM in virtualbox using loopback to connect both of the technologies but this something that you'll have to research.
