I went back and watched Don's OSPF for IPv6 configuration show and he uses the command:
#ipv6 router ospf 1
In the new CCNA (2018) show this command is used:
#router ospfv3 1
Looking at the command line there is also the difference in that one shows (config-rtr) and the other shows (config-router).
My question is....do these commands perform the same task (initializing OSPF), and does the same format need to be consistent across the neighboring OSPF routers. Does Cisco have a preference?
There's a difference more of how the IPv6 routing protocols work.
Remember that with EIGRP, it has a modular development and that means, they only had to add the layer 3 component to it...so that means the syntax for the router config stayed the same as in IPv4 ( i.e. config-router ).
For OSPFv3, the entire routing stack had to be re-written from the ground up to support IPv6, so as a result some of the config syntax changed like the one you mentioned: config-rtr and int OSPFv2 it is config-router
It is not so much a preference as it is a by the "version" of the routing protocol and what occurred. They are not interchangable.

Awesome explanation Ronnie, thanks! Makes a lot of sense now that I think about it.
BTW, passed my CCNA today using only ITPRo.tv series (both Ronnie's and Don's), and the practice labs. Only a couple concepts that threw me for a loop on the exam, so great job covering virtually all of the material. Ronnie, I enjoyed the new CCNA (2018) series more than the older one (PS don't tell Don) because I like how you break the concepts down in an easy way to comprehend. So don't worry if that simple topic becomes a 5 episode marathon!!

I did this Cisco Virtual Lab Simulation that has all the different protocols configured. Lower right corner has BGP AS 2000 has OSPFv3 configured for multiple areas. BGP AS 4000 has OSPF configured.
IOSV-4 OSPFv3 configuration is :
router ospfv3 4
