Hello All,
The new CompTIA A+ series (2019) will be a big change in the familiar naming convention.
1 - In the past the series have followed the 600, 700, 800 and 900 series
2 - Each exam would be labeled 220-701/220-702, 220-801/220-802, 220-901/220-902
The new structure will be different:
1- Core 1 content will map to the exam 220-1001
2- Core 2 content will map to the exam 220-1002
In the future you will probably see them continue with this naming convention.
We are recording the first edition according to CompTIA's single book format. It will be comprehensive and include both Core 1 and Core 2 content. We will be shooting all new content with no "carry-over" videos from the 900 series.
In the future we will be going back and recording a two book format as well. This format will break the Core 1 (220-1001 exam) and the Core 2 (220-1002) into separate shows. The two exam format is pending.
A great majority of the objectives that were relevant to the 900 series are still relevant in the 1000 series exams. Some information will be removed and there will be new material as is on par with past exam series releases.
I am not sure as to the practice exams availability, but they are usually ready to go shortly after the official announcement from CompTIA that the new exams have been released. I hope this helps and please ask any questions you might still have.
Best Regards,
Wes Bryan
