Tenasen,
I hope all is well. There are many choices and options to consider when looking for a backup solution that will provide the appropriate levels of reliability & usability both during normal usage scenarios, and of course, during a BCDR event.
The main things I often discuss with my clients and students are listed below for you to consider:
-
Scope - what are you looking to backup, and what are you looking to exclude
-
Volume of data - how much data are you looking to backup? MBs | GBs | PBs
-
Geography - where is/are the data you want to backup and where do you want to put it once it is backed up?
-
Frequency/Time - when will the data be available for backup? how often will you be backing up? what kind of backups will you be looing to run? what kind of restoration solution do you want to have? How long do you want it to take? What is/are your Recovery Time Objective (RTO) | Recovery Point Objective (RPO) | Maximum Tolerable Downtime (MTD) | Maximum Tolerable Outage (MTO) values around each / all datasets as part of the backup solution?
-
Architecture / Infrastructure - how will this solution integrate into your existing systems? Are you looking for an On-Premise solution? Cloud based? Hybrid?
-
Alignment - why are you backing up the data? what are the business objectives / goals that this data serves/supports? are you backing up ALL data that is relevant to these goals and objectives?
-
Investment - how much are you able to/willing to spend?
-
Responsibility/accountability - who will be responsible for the solutions implementation and care and feeding operationally? who will be accountable to the business for the solutions success or failure?
There are many other issues that may be relevant to your specific situation, but these cover the major areas of focus regardless of business size and vertical.
Having detailed out some areas to consider, take a look at the following, as it has a good listing of a variety of different vendors/products/options that may be of interest to you depending on your answers to the questions I have listed:

I hope that helps to get you started. Good luck !!
