Found a question that I'm pretty sure is wrong
QuestionID 104837
Says that 1 hour minimum fire rating on data center wall is wrong, that it should be 2hour. Yet your notes say 1hour "f. walls of space should have a MINIMUM fire rating of 1 hour"?

CISSP practise test

If that is a question from KaplanIT. Please submit a support ticket there. They can address that. I'll check with Adam on his notes.
-
Thanks Ronnie, I've already submitted there but didn't see any response.

Ok. We'll see on our end what we can do. I'll check with Adam today too.

Morgan,
I hope all is well. Can you please tell me what show and episode that you are referring to with regards to notes not being correct?
I am trying to figure out where the information is that you are asking about, but I cannot find it in the Accelerated CISSP show, and I am not sure which show you are referencing.
If you can let me know, I can take a look and then we can figure out if it is incorrect, or if the context is the issue, as there are several "right answers" to this question, depending on certain facts/factors.
I will look forward to hearing from you when you have a chance to reply.
Cheers,
Adam

Hi Adam,
To clarify, I'm pretty sure your notes are right and the Kaplan test is wrong. As I checked other sources when I got the question wrong. I've contacted them and they haven't replied. Regardless I think it is in the last show before the wrap-up. It's in the notes below;
Filename: isc2-acceleratedcissp-2018-3-1-1-security-architecture-and-engineering
Topic 10Part F (it is the only use of the word "hour" in the document).
Server Rooms | Data Centers - protected areas that should be optimized for
operations, not humansa. should be located in or near center of building
b. should not be on ground floor if possible
c. should not be on top floor if possible
d. should not be in basement if possible
e. should be away from water, gas, sewer runs if possible
f. walls of space should have a MINIMUM fire rating of 1 hour -
Morgan,
**FIRST THINGS FIRST, PLEASE e-mail me directly (adam@itpro.tv) so that I can send you the PDF I cite in my answer below**
Thank you for the follow up information, and the clarification on the show/episode citation for the issue.
So, it may surprise you to actually find out that we are both right. :) Let me explain:
Kaplan's practice test, if I understand you and the question they are asking correctly, is accurate, as the minimum required fire resistance rating of firewalls starts at 2 hours and goes up from there to 4 hours depending on the occupancy rating assigned. You can check out page 6 of the PDF that I will send you to see the table listing the occupancy ratings and times based on the 2012 IBC and the NFPA 221 documents.
Now, I am also right in saying in item "F" in my notes, as cited by you above, and in the episode, that
"walls of space should have a MINIMUM fire rating of 1 hour". This IS NOT the same thing as a firewall in the structural/architectural sense, and is subjected to different minimums based on occupancy rating. There are two types of items that are important to be aware of here:
-
Double wall construction allows for each wall to be rate at a 1 hour rating individually (see page 44)
-
Fire barriers allow for a 1 hour rating with an occupancy designation of "U" (see pages 45 - 46)
It is a squirrely subject, and is fraught with a lot of very, very specific regulations and requirements that you have to be aware of, or have an expert inform you about to get it right.
They also vary by country, as if that was not complicated enough already !!!
The important thing to pay attention to on the exam is the SPECIFICS OF THE QUESTION BEING ASKED. You are responsible for answering the question in front of you on the screen, and the subtleties of language are the thing to make sure you are clear on in order to get the right answer.
If I can be of any additional help as you work through the material for the rest of the domains, or if you have any other questions in general, please feel free to contact me directly. My e-mail is: adam@itpro.tv
Good Luck!!
Cheers,
Adam

@Adam-Gordon Certainly a squirrely topic, thanks for the reply. I'll send an email. I did start another threat about my confusion with Kerberos, but I don't think I'm going to be asked a question to that detail.
