Short answer:
Active Directory-based Activation is a role service that allows you to use Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) to store activation objects
KMS uses a client-server model to active clients. KMS clients connect to a KMS server, called the KMS host, for activation.
MAK is used for a one-time activation with activation services that are hosted by Microsoft.
