Hello, I am new to ITPROTV and wondering why the audio is so low on this site compared to everything else that I listen to? Anything I can do to fix this? Edit: This is in regards to Security + Accelerated course, first video. Not sure how many more videos are like this or if I need to put a support ticket in?

Please send a support ticket in: support@itpro.tv. Include the episode you're specifically that you're having difficulty with. This will insure that the problem is logged and addressed.
Thanks for letting us know.

I have been annoyed by the same issue. It's not a one-episode problem. It is pervasive throughout ITPRO.TV's entire course library, but is more noticeable when Justin Dennison is speaking.
ITPRO.TV's audio problem appears to me to be a combination of several issues:
-
The audio is mixed at a lower average volume level than most comparable audio sources (e.g. TWiT, CNN, MSNBC, etc.). It does seem like maybe this is less of a problem in newer courses than in courses recorded a few years ago.
-
A lack of dynamic range compression means that hosts' voices become nearly inaudible when they lower their speaking volume. Justin Dennison sometimes intentionally speaks under his breath, so it can become very difficult to hear what he's saying. In one episode (I have long forgotten which one) Don Pezet's voice temporarily became inaudible for a moment when he lowered the volume of his voice. I'm guessing that more dynamic range compression should help fix this, but I'm far from an audio expert.

Sometimes two hosts on the same show will speak at slightly different volumes and your audio engineer (if you have one) doesn't equalize them. By contrast, I frequently notice that when a guest on cable news speaks at a low volume, audio engineers fix the problem in real time by raising the gain/level on the quiet speaker.

Justin Dennison sometimes speaks at a slightly lower normal volume than other hosts. He also speaks with a greater dynamic range than other hosts by intentionally speaking under his breath at times. I would think that with better audio engineering this wouldn't be as much of a problem.
In general, I get the sense that ITPRO.TV doesn't think carefully about audio. I've noticed room noise in some episodes. In the Lean Six Sigma - Yellow Belt course, "Introduction to LSS" episode and others filmed on the same day, Dr. Terra Stern's microphone was placed near her left shoulder while Don Pezet was standing to her right. Every time she turned to speak to Don, she was turning her mouth away from the microphone. If instead the microphone had been placed near her right shoulder, she would have been turning her mouth toward the microphone. Overall, I think ITPRO.TV needs to pay more attention to the quality of its audio—audio gain/level, dynamic range compression, microphone quality, microphone placement, set construction, etc.
