How the heck did the new Roku app survive testing? I'm guessing that, as with many software projects, it was released on schedule regardless of whether it actually worked.
A few of the most blatant bugs & poor design choices:
-
While watching a video, pressing the rewind button takes me to the previous video instead of rewinding the current video.
-
No ability to view current progress of a video in real time. In the previous app, I could press pause and see how far along I am and how much further I had to go. Now there's no way to view the progress of the currently-playing video.
-
Holding down (rather than simply pressing) the rewind button will rewind, but there's no indication of whether I've rewound by 10 seconds or 10 minutes.
-
Difficult to rewatch videos. Selecting a video takes me to where I left off, which is helpful. But if I've already finished a video, selecting the video will always take me to the last second or two rather than restarting at the beginning.
-
The home screen only shows us videos (not courses) that we've recently watched. We can't proceed to the next video in a course from the home screen. This makes the home screen mostly useless. This behavior is entirely different than the ITPRO.TV website, which helpfully shows us "My Recent Courses". There is a world of difference between "My Recent Courses" (helpful) vs. "My Recent Videos" (unhelpful).
I am very glad that I didn't take advantage of the 1-year subscription offers I received a few weeks ago. Since I almost only watch ITPRO.TV on Roku, I am considering cancelling my account (which renews on Saturday) until you guys work out the bugs.
