I need to check the healthy of SSD in a Linux System, i'm using smartctl but frankly i'm far to completely understand how to read the report.
By thge way, i has a linux ws that during the boot drops in busybox, after that i run fsck from a live version and at that point the system seems booting correctly but i found a lot of ata error running dmesg and in the syslog reiceving also smarmtd alert by mail.
Just to be sure i have have re-seat the cable and then and all the ata errors disappeared from the syslog and just to be sure i run also the smarctl -a before and after re-seat the cable. Where the main difference of the report was what the Soft Read Error Rate changed in the RAW Value from 53 to 0.
Below the report

I should say that the disk is fine, but i'm far from completely understand the tool so i'm not really sure. For example i run the extended test three time with the following result
# 1 Extended offline Completed: read failure 90% 21842 234869464
# 2 Extended offline Completed: read failure 90% 21842 162334216
# 3 Extended offline Completed: read failure 90% 21842 45290872
And i don't understand if the read failure are related because historically happened read failure. The Extended test should also run for 40 min but it finished max after one or two minute.
In addition the error below that still appear in the report error like this
Error 190 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 21729 hours (905 days + 9 hours)
When the command that caused the error occurred, the device was active or idle.
hat i suppose are error happened and registered when the sata cable was badly connetcted...but also in this case i'm not sure...
I'm really confused.
Any advice about tools to check the Health of SSD?
