Hi, I just tried to launch my first virtual lab session on the it fundamentals labs and went to the first one on the list (the one about shared printers) and on the instructions I saw that it said for me to disable the auto login feature, I tried to go into the search option and type in "netplwiz" but I don't see a checkbox that says "users must enter a username and password to use this computer" I can't seem to find anything through the help section that tells me how to do this, so I'm here asking if I can get some help with how to do this. Thanks.
just tried to launch the virtual labs and ran into something that I need some help with.
PLABDM01 I just tried to access this lab again except this time when I put in the search credentials and saw the run command in the list and tried to click on it it would not pull any thing up.
... actually I realize what I was doing wrong now, how ever I get to the step where it scans for printers, but then when I click on "the printer that I want isn't listed" I get the following error message that says:
Windows cannot access the specific device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
thanks for this... now if I just get the name of the lab that you clicked on so that I can run the same lab. I'm assuming this is for CompTIA A+ but not exactly sure which lab you actually launched.
I can tell you that it seems like a particular permission issue but I'm not sure until I can test it.
Hey @Jeff-Rielly thank you for posting that video, super helpful. I wonder if you could tell me what the exact lab is. I would like to test the lab myself. I am thinking a UAC/Standard user or running the System File Checker.
...oh, sorry * facepalm from slight embarrassment * I just just copped the text from it it from the list of labs under the comptia section, it's under fundamentals+ in the list :
CompTIA IT Fundamentals+
Manage Operating System Tools
Exercise 1 - Install and Configure Printers
Exercise 2 - Implement Disk Partitions
Exercise 3 - Manage Unresponsive Applications
the paticular subject within the lab is "Manage Operating System Tools"
I have looked into the issue can recreated the exact issue on
Manage Operating System Tools, Exercise 1 – Install and Configure Printers: Step 7
Here is the error:
I was able to launch the "The printer that I want isn't listed" from PowerShell:
Here is the wizard you should be seeing:
It did not require additional permissions or privileges, so I would guess (only a guess), that the GUI is hosed up somehow on the image and might need repaired. I have submitted a support ticket to Practice-Labs and will let you know when they get back to me. You can submit a support ticket as well via email@example.com. I hope this helps and when you need assistance do not hesitate to ask!
