Is there a way to have a line in the config file that will alias a hostname to an ip address similar to the windows hosts file. I have setup a tftp server on my network so that each time I modify a switch configuration, I can easily copy the new config to the server for posterity. But, each time I run the copy command, I have to enter the server ip address. I would rather be able to simply type in the server name.
I know that you can setup the ip domain & dns server entries to do the work for me, at least I think you can, but I don't really want to do that. It adds the long domain name to hostname displays and makes the screen more difficult to read. eg: show cdp neighbor.
Thanks,
Kevin
