Hyper V ISSUE

Hi there, i have my own home lab set up. A dell server R710 running MS Server 2012 Datacentre its a standalone server running Hyper-V. I have three Guest VM's DC01 server 2016 DC02 2016 SRV01 2019 running, For lab testing purposes and learning i have a internal switch set up within Hyper V the network i am using is 192.168.1.0 /24

The Internal network card that Hyper V created when i created the internal switch has a network address of 192.168.1.1 / 24

The VM DC01 running server 2016 has an IP address of 192.168.10 /24 with a default gateway of 192.168.1.1 resembling the Host. Now ! my issue is, the host can ping 192.168.10 but the VM DC01 cannot ping 192.168.1 and it the same problem across all VM's. Can you please help, i have done all i can possibly do even VM's cannot communicate with each other leaving me with DNS problems and no Active Directory.

The internal network should allow the VMs to communicate with each other as well as the Hyper-V host.

Perhaps it is a routing issue. What is the network address of your home network? Make sure the network address used for your private network doesn't conflict / overlap. Otherwise your Hyper-V host wont be able to route successfully.

Keep me posted, we'll get it working. I tested on my machine just to make sure. Here are the steps I used, maybe it will help you troubleshoot.

1. Created a new internal network switch and assigned 192.168.1.1/24 to the VEthernet adapter on the Hyper-V host.
2. Then I spun up a server 2016 VM and connected it to the internal switch. I assigned the address 192.168.1.10/24 to the VM, with a default gateway of 192.168.1.1
3. I allowed ICMP exceptions in the firewall on the VM. My laptop (Hyper-V host) already had exceptions for ping.

I was able to ping the Hyper-V host from the VM and ping the VM from the Hyper-V host.
