Just got back form Pearson Vue after failing the VCP exam.
249/600 (which is 149/500 really since you get 100 points just for showing up).
I can score 80%+ on any practice test I attempted. Watched the IT-Protv series, CBT Nuggets and read two books. Made highlight notes and all.
I was able to pass 4 other certs using my normal study method so I'm not new to this. I have failed exams before also.
Anyway. The exam is a complete joke.
80% of the questions were scenario based and BOY are these the most ridiculous scenarios.
There was not a single question that I read that prompted me to think 'oh this is my weak area, should have read more'.
Instead, every question I had to concentrate on trying to understand the convoluted logic.
Honestly, I don't think it would make any difference if I had both books and a phone in my hand.
Pretty disappointing!
Anyway, I'm going to wait 7 days and just go again. Not even going to study anymore.
Perhaps I will get a set of questions that was written by someone who was SOBER when coming up with them.

Sorry to hear that. How did you do on the re-test?
I took (and passed) the VCP5-DCV exam about a year and a half ago. While it was very difficult, I don't remember it being as bad as your experience. I also don't remember that many scenario questions at all. Most of them seemed pretty straight forward, simple answer, multiple choice. In fact, I began the MS tract about six months ago, which was my first (real) exam after the VCP, and I thought that the MS questions were much worse than the VCP for the very same reasons you mentioned about the latter. It seemed like every MS question had a scenario story assigned with it, whereas the VCP was more "What does _____ do?"
I wonder if they changed the test recently.
It pisses me off that I need to take the VCP exam again in the next few months since my 'lifetime' VCP was changed to 2-years, retroactively, shortly after I passed.
