Cables SFP are not working

Hi guys ! I've watched the video called Layer 1: Interfaces and Cabling and the instructor told to take care to buy cable SFP (Small Form Pluggagle) because almost of them are not supported by Cisco. I bought two cable SFP from different vendors via Mercado Livre (ebay from LATAM) and when I plug the cable in the port SFP in front of switch, the following message appear :

%GBIC_SECURITY_CRYPT-4-ID_MISMATCH: Identification check failed for GBIC in port Gi3/0/1.

Is there any software ios update to keep compatibility ? or unfortunately these cable are not going to work? Where I can buy a official cable and I make sure that it will work ?

I recommend that you check the model of your device and find the hardwares specification for the SFP that you might need for those ports. Weirdly, it could be the vendor brand itself--I know we had issues with HP taking generic ones. And some Cisco gear the same thing; they had to be the cisco based SFPs as well.

It's not normally your IOS that is the issue as much as it is the hardware. It has to match on not only form factor but standards, speed and even wave-length at times.

HP and Cisco put code in the transceiver on the SFP cables that shows it is their expensive cables. They will work but throw errors. When you call support, they will tell you to buy their cables to solve the problem.
