If I had to do both then I would go with Network+ then move on to Security+.

Hi Craig, I have been on the same path for a while now and already crossed that bridge. I totally agree with Mr. Lowrie. I thought that Security+ would be the easy jump to enter the Security career path, however, I also came to realize that the foundational concepts and real meat of networking is in Network+. I would only be encountering situations later that would reveal that I have a serious lack in the networking knowledgebase and skill set. For what its worth, I would also encourage you to tackle the Network+ cert first.
