Hi everyone, I'm studying for the ComTIA Linux + certification but then I would like to do all the LPIC 1- 3 certifications, I saw that you are doing the new version of the LPIC 2 certification, I was wondering if you will do the LPIC3 security certification too Hi everyone, I'm studying for the ComTIA Linux + certification but then I would like to do all the LPIC 1- 3 certifications, I saw that you are doing the new version of the LPIC 2 certification, I was wondering if you will do the LPIC3 security certification too

There will be a course on LPIC-3 Security?

HI Edorado,
We are in the process of road mapping the upcoming year's content and will have a better idea of how deeply we will div into LPI content by January. Thank you for writing in, I have registered your interest in LPIC-3. -
Hi Guys,
Just wondered if there had been any further thoughts on this? I'm interested in both LPIC-3 Security and the BSD specialist certifications from LPI but there's a real lack of training material out there for them... any chance either of these might find their way onto the roadmap? Don 100% got me through LPIC-2 (especially the first exam) and I'd hate to study from anyone else anyway!
If not, is there anything Don could recommend to use to study for these?
Thank you!

Unfortunately, the LPIC-3 certifications haven't gained much traction in the marketplace. That is why you are not seeing training out there. LPIC-2 hasn't performed that well for us either, so I don't think you will see an LPIC-3 offering from us in the near future. Anything is possible, but I wouldn't count on it. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of demand for advanced level Linux certifications outside of Red Hat.
As for study materials, most of the content you find on Udemy and the books on Amazon are pretty low effort, so I have a hard time recommending them. Your best bet is to use the exam documentation on the LPI website. It is fairly detailed and gives you a good idea what to expect on the exam.
Now, if you are just interested in learning about BSD systems, I highly recommend the Absolute OpenBSD book from No Starch Press. It's a little dated, but really well done. Actually, all of the BSD related titles from No Starch Press are really top notch.

@Don-Pezet Thanks very much for the update - I totally understand that. I like LPI but they don't seem to be especially proactive about promoting themselves - I ended up trying them out only because ITProTV put the LPIC-1 course out, I enjoyed that so I gave LPIC-2 a go. Had you not had LPIC-1 material available, I'd probably have never tried them out.
Kinda a shame they split with CompTIA - I can't help but feel like there would be a lot more interest if your Linux plus still allowed you to join LPI and take your studies further!
Thanks for the book recommendation - I'll check that out!

Ah, that was my wish to. I like Linux and have been using it since the late 90'ties and wanted certifications to prove my skills. My dream is to work on Linux systems. I follow LPI and it seems they have stagnated a bit and it is a small organization so maybe that is the reason. They have come out with a web development certification but not done much with the documentation on the higher level stuff and that seems a little weird to me.
I used to work in a place that sold IT-courses and to get the Red Hat certification you must take an expensive course first, to expensive, so no Red Hat for me but I like the idea of being distribution agnostic.
How then are we Linux enthusiast going to get certified? The CompTIA certifications are not that known here in Europe, they seem to prefer the big vendor ones like Cisco, Microsoft and AWS.
