If I create a trunk between two switrches, do the VLANS on each switch have to match in order to carry the traffic between the two switches?

They do not have to match EXACTLY.....for instance I have 10 VLANs on one switch and 8 VLANs on another switch. If you have multiple devices in the same vlan but connected to different switches, those VLANs must be configured on both switches.
