ITProTV course updates for transitional certification periods

Hello,

I received the good news today that I passed the ITF+ cert and I'm gearing up to prepare for the A+ exam with the help of ITProTV of course! It looks like A+ exams 220-1001 and 220-1002 launched on January 15, 2019. From my research (and please correct if I'm wrong) it looks like the retirement date may be coming up on January 15, 2022 with a grace period of 6 months (~July 15, 2022). During this grace period, sounds like candidates can choose which version of the exam to take as they will both be available and valid for certification purposes. This got me thinking, how does ITProTV handle these changes with regards to coursware content version availability. More specifically...

Question 1)
Assuming I'm interested in taking A+ exams 220-1001 and 220-1002, what is the last day that courseware content (videos, virtual labs, practice exams) for this particular exam version will be available on ITProTV before it is updated? I would think that during this grace period, there would be two sets of courseware content available to support both versions of the exam but that could be a terrible assumption on my part.

Question 2)
Although this question is geared towards A+ cert, does the same content update schema apply for all other course offerings on ITProTV?

Anyway, maybe I got this exam retirement thing all wrong and there is a simpler path forward. Hoping to get some clarity to avoid studying for an unsupported exam version.

I'm so glad you asked this question here because it is one we get a lot around certification content.
1.
You are correct - CompTIA typically offers a 6-month sunset window in which the candidate can choose which version of the exam they want to take. During that window, ITProTV will have both versions of A+ available in our main catalog area. After the window closes and only the 1101 and 1102 exams are available to take, we will move the 1001 and 1002 to the legacy section.

The wisdom of many trainers is that if you have started studying for one version, don't stop! Continue your studies and after the new exam drops, look at the new objectives and explore feedback from sources you trust. Then, decide for yourself which version you would like to sit. @WesBryan may have more thoughts on that!

You should expect to be able to take the 1001 and 1002 versions until June, 2022. But always confirm on the vendor site for details.

This sunset window or grace period schema does not apply across all certification vendors! Every vendor gets to make and play by their own rules. For example, EC-Council has had hard cut-over dates in the past - and by that I mean the day the new exam went live, the old exam was no longer available. The best practice is to always visit the vendor websites for details on sunset windows and exam voucher expiration.

Thank you for directly answering both questions and on a Sunday to boot! Regarding the A+ cert, I'm grateful to learn that ITProTV does post both versions during the grace period. This is a big deal for folks like myself who are on a self study program since it offers flexibility. Thanks again for the heads up.
