How to uninstall complete application or software from linux - apache /openvpn or any other
from the terminal...
you must find the name of the package that is installed that you want to uninstall. I'm using Ubuntu as an example
I can use something like
dpkg --listto get a list of all packages installed.
find the full name of the package from that list
sudo apt-get --purge remove <full name of the package>press enter. (
purgewill remove the configuration files)
type your password.
When asked if you want to continue,...type
when complete it will let you know what was uninstalled, then type
This may still leave dependent packages left behind from the removed program. To remove them
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo apt-get cleanto remove the package file downloaded when you installed.
