Hello.
I can't understand how the math of the multiplication of 250 MBps in the expansion cards work. Should I multiply this 250 times the standard that I'm using, like 2.0 or 3.0, or maybe by the lanes count, like x4 or x16?
Could you please explain it to me in more details than you did in the episode?

@Maksymilian-Sybicki great question, if you have a version of the standard for instance PCIe version 1.0, the transmission speed of a single lane (x1) is 250 Mbps. If we need to figure out the transmission speed for a four lane card that works out to 250Mbps (1 lane) + 250 Mbps (x2) + 250 Mbps(x3)+ 250 Mbps (x4) or 1 Gbps for a x4 card. If the we look at version 2.0 a single link card (x1) is 500 Mbps or double the speed of version 1.0. To figure out any card's speed or for a x4 or 4 lane card, the same applies 500 Mbps + 500 Mbps + 500 Mbps + 500 Mbps = 2 Gbps for a x4 card. This is an easy way to calculate the speeds of the different cards. As mentioned in the episode, every version increases the speed over the prior generation.
