I just wanted to thank Don and Ronnie for their time in presenting the CCNA Security course. I passed today with a 938, thanks to their time and effort presenting a lot of the topics in a clear and understandable manner.
Thanks for being a member with ITProTV. The ITProTV team celebrates with you on your World Series home run: 938!! I would say that's Don Pezet level passing on CCNA Security ( I think he scored a 1000, but you're close! ;) ).
It's because of members like you that work hard and become successful that make us desire to work harder to produce the best content possible, so thank you for sharing with us!
If you don't mind, please also share with the ITProTV forum on your methodology of success in exam preparation and how you used ITProTV content to help! I believe this will help out other ITProTV members as they too are preparing for their exam.
My study methods include buys the certification guide, other books that go deeper on specific topics (like Cisco's IPSec VPN book), taking a class at a community college, watching the ITPro.tv videos, buying 2 security enabled routers, 2 asa 5505's, re-reading all the books, taking Cisco approved practice tests, and practicing every week for a year. It also helps to be able to implement a lot of the concepts at work. I recommend finding most of the physical stuff used and a generation behind. I was able to get all my equipment and books for less than $500.
I took that last iteration of the 640-554. I heard it was a lot harder than many of the previous versions. But 938 isn't too bad for someone still in school for this. I hope you guys will be making CCDA and CCNA Wireless (possibly CCNA Collaboration) within the next year.
The increased difficulty has been a hot button topic over on the official cisco forums. All those people failing scared me away from taking the test. I've turned my efforts towards ccnp route since a lot of the topics cross over into ccna security anyway.
With that said, your score is an amazing accomplishment. Congrats :) .
