In the episode you say to use ciper /r to backup the EFS certificate. After looking on technet, should this be:
ciper/x (Backs up the EFS certificate and keys to the specified file name.)

Yeah, cipher /r
generates the recovery key agent and certificate and cipher /x
backs up the EFS certificate!

addendum:
I was watching the recording, in the context that Don was talking about, he took Cipher and generated a new certificate with public and private key and told it where to export it.
I believe you're right that if you were just backing a key, the cipher /x
is the way to go; but here Don did the generation and back up with cipher/r:c:\efs-backup
a single command. Showing how to automate the tasks at hand.
