Unsolved Moving from Dirsync to SSO (Office 3650

Hello,

I've been watching the videos on Office 365 and they have been a huge help. Thank you. My question is when migrating from Dirsync to SSO how can I do a test of the setup before converting everyone over. I have 4 domains connected to my office 365 account but only 1 primary. Can I federate a non-primary domain for testing?

Is it best to install two instances of AD connect? the old install doing dirsync and the new install doing SSO and then I have an easy way to revert back should SSO fail? Thoughts

I'm pretty sure you'll have to do the AD connect between the each of domains you'll want to federate. Remember to add the UPN suffixes under your primary domain under domains and trusts.

so we could test with Domain 2 with out screwing up domain 1?

To make sure, create an administrator account that is outside of your AD for Office 365. use the anyusername@domain.onmicrosoft.com suffix instead of one of the domains you want to federate.

This way...even if you "mess" up the office 365 tenant with the domain you don't want. You can use the admin you created to log back in to Office 365 and You can use the Azure AD module for Powershell you can unfederate when you need.
