Unsolved Information on OS operation

Hi all,

I'm wanting to gain an in-depth understanding of the OS operation on server 2012 or earlier. Specifically in looking for suggestions of videos on here or books that cover such topics as how a cup scheduler works, processor affinity, multithreading, etc. I'm really looking for a detailed explanation of how the Microsoft OS functions.

I came across a very detailed book by O'Reily publishing called Understandin Linux OS that covered this exact topic.

Anyway, I'm hoping there is a videos series on this site, but if not any book suggestions would be appreciated!

First, my apologies. I try to answer as many as i can and as quickly as I can, yours slipped through the crack.

I'm not sure if there's a book like the one you mentioned for the Windows OS, what you're talking about is how the OS works. And though Linux is an open OS; Microsoft is not.

This is not to say that you can't find the information out there on the 'interwebs" but you may want to do a search for computer science text books and Operating System Designs. A few years ago, Georgia Tech, had a Master's MOC (Massive Online Course) offering that had the standard text book on understanding OS designs that you could download for free but I couldn't find it any longer..and anyhow, that was during the Windows 7 hayday and some of that may have changed now that we're on Windows 10.
