G'day all.
I am having an issue where I want to connect my vpn from my remote devices (computers and phones) back to my pfsense box with openvpn. But I'm trying to prevent any data from going out until the vpn is connected. I have watched the pfsense vpn videos and do not see this addressed.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
Thank you.

By default, pfSense doesn't allow any connections from the outside. So unless your OpenVPN connection is up, this shouldn't be an issue of pfSense.
If you're trying to prevent your machine from sending any data before your client connection, this is a function of your OS on your devices connecting in and not so much of the OpenVPN. So you'd probably need to look there for in the OS documentation to see if this is possible.

Thank you Ronnie.
Yes, my goal is to stop the remote device from sending data before the tunnel is established. I will look their OS as my point of attack. Thank you.
