Unsolved RECOVERING IOS IMAGE FOR CATALYST 3550

Am in dire need of a way out. Am using the xmodem to recover the image file for my 3550 switch but discovered that the flash might be full as in indicated in the output below. Please what is my next line of action.

• look at output...do you see an image name or not. Try to determine what is taking up space on your flash.

switch: delete flash: <image file name>

• Delete file that is taking up too much Flash and verify it is no longer on flash after deletion.

Thanks alot Ronnie. I discovered I have an ios file on the flash taking the space so i deleted as suggested and i was able to copy the image file.

I usually install a TFTP server for my Cisco hardware.

sh flash0: will show you all the files.

next I do copy run start to copy the running config to startup-config, then copy start tftp: to copy it to tftp.

You can copy the running config to tftp too along with other files off the flash.

I also forgot before everything is done and back to operation make sure your the config-register is back to 0x2102. If you happened to change it at some point! Just want to make sure!

About the config-register. After recovering the image I checked the config on 3550 : Configuration register is 0x10F. During this recovery i didn't change the Configuration register, so would I have to change it as suggested?

I believes that's perfectly fine too. I can't remember off the top of my head. I think they changed it to this in more current versions and 0X10F is the equivalent to 0x2102.

Thanks alot Ronnie, i reloaded the switch without changing the config register and it worked fine now.
