Hi ITPro.tv,
I am a new Premium member and so far I am loving the service. I work in Information Security and I am studying to take my Security+ in a few weeks. After that, I will be using ITPro.tv to study for the CySA+ and/or CISSP. I'm enjoying the service so much I have sold my company on the idea of signing up for some enterprise seats in the 2020 budget.
Now, after about a week of use, I want to provide some feedback suggestions on the Android app. 99% of my usage has been done through the app, and I have run into some areas that I feel are lacking and could easily be improved.
Progress Tracking:
This is the big one in the Android app. I find myself having to keep track of video titles to ensure I am not re-watching a topic and so that I don't lose my place in the progression. I believe some form of visual modifier, such as a progress bar on the thumbnail (think YouTube), or a percentage indicator on the thumbnail showing the video progress would greatly improve navigation and progress tracking.
Continuous Play:
This is a feature I would love to see. Currently, when a video ends I have to open the app, go to the dashboard, open the training curriculum and find the next video. Occasionally, I can click the "Forward" button on the ITPro.TV status bar widget to take me to the next video, but I find this does not always work. I would love to see a continuous play toggle added to the options that allows users to turn on/off automatic video progression
"Up Next" Section:
In the app, I find when a video ends, the next video is not displayed on the same page. This forces me to go back to the dashboard, navigate to the class, and scroll down to the next video. What is displayed under the video is "Recently Watch Videos", which I don't find very helpful. I'm not saying remove this, but I think it should be a separate section under the video. Directly under the video should be an "Up Next" video that is the next video in the series. Then you could segregate this and place a section under that with "previously watched" or "related videos".
Audio Only:
This feature is already in place, but how it works is suspect. Currently (Android), I have to click the Ear icon to set the video to audio only, If I turn off my screen at this point, it stops the video. So to mitigate this, I hit the back arrow which takes me to the dashboard, and from there hit the play button again to start the audio. At this point (dashboard with audio playing) I am unable to minimize the app / close the screen. I'm glad this feature is available, but it needs improvement in functionality.
These are just my thoughts. Maybe some of them are already part of the app and they just aren't clear to me on how they work. If not, I think the above would be beneficial to all (Android) users.
