Hi All
I have 2 domains in my forest, one called alpha.local which is the main parent domain and i have just created a tree domain called beta.local in the forest.
There is automatically a trust setup between the 2 domains but when i try to add beta-dc-01 to the alpha-dc-01's server manager i get an error, even if i add the creds.
I have googled for adding a trusted domain server into server manager but all i get is "add a workgroup server to a domain machines server manager"
So im basically wondering if anyone knows for sure if its just a case of adding the server exactly like it was a workgroup server or if there is a different procedure for a trusted server. If its a case of adding it like its a workgroup machine then that's absolutely fine, i just don't want to make those changes until i know for sure.
Thanks for your help in advance.
Matt

Adding Trusted domain servers to server manager.

*Update*
Patience is not one of my virtue's so i just went ahead and tried to add it like a workgroup server, it doesn't work!
I wonder if its actually possible to add another server from another domain to server manager?
Ill look into it some more but if anyone has any advice please chip in.
Thanks -
Matthew,
As long as the two domains are in the same forest, you should be able to add the DCs into the server manager using the normal Manage -> Add Servers option in the drop down menus. There are a few things that can stop it from working:- Name resolution (forward and reverse DNS are required)
- Permissions (You will need permissions in both domains. Use the Enterprise Admins group for quick testing)
- Windows Firewall (WinRM must be allowed through the firewall)
I'm out of the office today, but when I get back in tomorrow I can film a quick video showing the process.

Hey Don
Thanks for the reply, yeah i tried to add it with the first domains administrator who is in the ent admins group, and i even tried to take both servers firewall offline but still no dice.
I will have a look now at the DNS settings and let you know the results.
Thanks
Matt
