Hello. I am new to this website. I just signed up today and loving it so far. I'm new to IT. I just passed the CompTIA A+ and Network+ but I want Microsoft certs now because a job I have been offered is heavy on Microsoft 365 and Active Directory. My question is that I am a few videos in on the MD-100 course and there is a lot of Powershell use. I have never used Powershell before. Will I be required to know how to use Powershell to pass these exams? I follow along with the instructor as his types in the commands but I don't know why to use those commands or which ones to use. Thanks.

Studying for Md-100 and MD-101. Question about Powershell

Hello @rocky-muscia ,
Welcome to ITProTV! Congrats on your A+ and Net+ success!
They can (and most likely will) ask some questions that involve PowerShell. So I would definitely recommend learning the PowerShell commands. You should at least be able to recognize the proper command to perform a task. Like, which command would you use to create a new user. Many times the commands are typed out in the answer, you just have to pick the right one, not type the command from scratch. But, I have seen questions that have drop-down lists for sections of a command.
Usually you can do something in Windows one of two ways, the GUI or PowerShell. I always recommend learning both. Start with the GUI, until the concept makes sense. Then see if you can accomplish the same thing using PowerShell.
For example, create a new user using the GUI. Look at the different properties, like name and email, etc. See which properties are required. Then learn how to do the same thing in PowerShell. You will recognize many of the PowerShell parameters from using the GUI.
Hope this helps. Keep watching and asking questions!
