@Vj-Sriram ,
I hope all is well. A move into IT Security presents an exciting opportunity to build on your existing skillsets while adding additional skills to further broaden your capabilities.
A typical certification path for someone starting out in IT Security would look like the following:
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA CySA+
- EITHER ISC2 SSCP or CompTIA CASP+
At this point, you will have the basic practitioner and theory skill sets in place for both the Blue and Red Team mindsets.
Depending on what you would look to focus on as your career path progression.. Management, Blue Team, Red Team, etc... you would have to make a choice, then the rest of the path will look very different ...
Beyond the decision point, there are some additional skills that are also required to make you a well rounded security professional REGARDLESS of the direction you choose at the fork in the road identified above.
Project Management training --> Project Management Institute's Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
ITIL certification
Six Sigma Green and Yellow Belt certification
Agile/Scrum foundation certification
If you have a specific path in mind once you reach the fork/branch point I mentioned above, and would be kind enough to share it with me as a follow up item, I can sketch out the rest of a path for you.
Good Luck !!
Cheers,
Adam
