I'm a little confused. I learned the OSI model starts from level 1-7. For me it's a little easier to understand in that order. I was taking the Cybrary network + course and the instructor presented the different levels in that order, never mentioning the sending/receiving order change; dependent upon which direction traffic is moving. So order changes dependent upon traffic movement?

So remember that the OSI model is just that a model that explains what occurs when a device sends and receives the frame.
Devices originating the data frame does "encapsulation" ( Layer 7 to Layer 1): adding additional headers to the data to prepare for delivery across a network.
Devices receiving the data frame from the network "decapsulates" ( Layer 1 to Layer 7): reads and processes the headers.
