I am looking to upgrade my Microsoft 365 skills (and Azure Skils) I am thinking about taking a year Business Premium subscription to help me with my studies. Going to start with the MS-900 and AZ900 (not sure where to go after MS-900 for 365 certifications, will be AZ-400 for Azure) I currently have a Microsoft 365 family plan - so I can install office on to six devices.. if there any benefit to my study if I upgrade to a Microsoft 365 Business Premium subscription ??
After almost 20 years doing desktop support I want to move to a more administrative role, My company in 2021 is about to roll out Microsoft 365 so currently don't have access to the admin centre - don't think I will have much access when it arrives so I thought if I had my own subscription I could study at home. I know MS-900 is not a technical exam so I don't need it to pas, but going forward to other 365 exams -could you pass them with no business subscription
oh happy 2021
Microsoft 365 Business Premium subscription - Required?
The Microsoft 365 Business Premium would give you access to the Microsoft 365 Admin portal. Having experience with the portal and the various management / deployment tools would be beneficial.
You have a couple of routes you can go after the MS-900.
The MD-100 and MD-101 exams will earn you the Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate. This would be good if you were going to deploy, configure, secure, manage, and monitor devices and client applications in an enterprise environment. This is more about devices and device management.
The MS-100 and MS-101 exams will earn you the Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert certification. This would be good if you were going to evaluate, plan, migrate, deploy, and manage Microsoft 365 services. This is more about managing the infrastructure and services.
Both of these will also require some Azure knowledge and experience. Either way you go, I would look into a trial Azure subscription. Because it is only a 30 day trial, I would wait till the end of my studies to start the trial. If you are wise about trying things and then removing them, the cost of a pay-as-you-go subscription to Azure can be controlled. My demo environment I use for shows averages around ~$25 a month (when I don't forget to shut down or delete VMs, lol)
Depending on your experience, I would look at taking the AZ-104 exam before AZ-400. It would help with both the MS exams and the MD exams.
Hope this helps,
