Help with Comptia fundamentals course

Good evening,
Newbie here, I have finished my CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ episodes and got the certificate, next step was the virtual labs but I find it completely random and I just follow the steps and does not add anything to my knowledge! also its not really related to the topics in the episodes (windows setup or Linux configuring or last mobile phone emulator and just typing loads of numbers to configure the network which does not make sense to me) is that normal? can anyone help/advise please? Thanks

Yes. Both the show and the labs are built from the same starting point. The exam objectives. Though they are completely different in focus.

What we did in the show is that we started from the key idea is that this course is about examining the multiple possible fields there are in the realm of IT for the beginner or the career-changer. The exam objective provided a survey of multiple fields of study, which we covered from that standpoint. Also we showed you some of the major concepts, and even daily tasks you may face. All in the goal of giving someone a chance to survey what they might want to do before committing to a particular field and then realizing that it is not what they wanted to do.

The practice-labs environment, focuses in the TASKS of each objective. They take a very low level evaluation of what can they demonstrate to reinforce that objective. This is another great approach that SUPPLEMENTS and COMPLEMENTS the learning you gained from watching the ITProTV ITF+ course too.

Thank you very much for your reply, really appreciated.
Now I understand the idea is to get exposed to different aspects to see if the course is the right fit for me.

My last concern/question is in the virtual labs I was just following the steps but I didn't really learn a lot especially with the numbers I input or the commands, Is that still to show me steps of how real life is, or was I supposed to learn/memorise these?

I would not memorize them. The goal at this level is familiarize yourself with the concepts and understanding. I would use those questions or exercises to set up contexts for your understanding.
