I want to thank Ronnie for his detailed explanations about the answering the subnet-related questions on the Network+ or CCENT exams. I have been spending a couple weeks going over and over the math to be able to subnet in my head. I worked subnet problems over and over until I saw the patterns and memorized the sequences. But one issue still felt like a puzzle. I wasn't sure what happened to the subnet mask when we split up a network (or subnet using VLSM)?
When Ronnie read the questions for exercises 6 and 7, I knew the answer before he finished reading it. I didn't have to listen to his breakdown of the binary details. But I know that it is better to understand things more than one way, should I run into a roadblock. So I listened. Then he started explaining how the binary explains both the CIDR notation and the subnet mask.
Now I got it. The puzzle isn't missing any pieces.
I want to encourage other viewers to take Ronnie's advice to keep watching even if we know the answer to the exam question in the first thirty seconds.

Richard,
Thank you for the kudos! But more than anything, glad the concepts are coming to you. Pretty soon, you'll be doing this stuff in your head! Way to Go!
