Am I supposed to know the connector types for MIDI on the A+ exam? I think that they either use the 6 pin mini din connector or something like a gamepad connector. Do they also use USB?

Ponciana,
"Never say never," just when you think a technology is headed for the atari 2600 console of obsolete technology, it makes a comeback. MIDIs have done exactly that.
The world of musical mashups, MIDIs, MP3s and a laptops have created the trap, house music and techno dance. Any teenager and 20 year old can now "add a sick beat" or "drop the bass" (not the fish) into a pop song and it can be on soundcloud.
The 6pin DIN is not exactly the same thing in this instance, which is normally for mouse and keyboard also known as a PS/2 connector.
