Solved Network+ NAT Outside IP didn't match static IP

Hey everyone,

In the episode Network Applications and Services pt 2. at 47:59, Ronnie is talking about NAT. In the example, he mapped 12.1.1.1 to 23.1.1.2. However, the router shows the outside IP as being 23.1.1.3.... I know I am just missing a simple piece here- what is it?

Edit: my misunderstanding seems to be that the labels at the top of the table.... I see 23.1.1.2 listed under Pro Inside Global. Is this the public facing IP address? Thanks for the assistance.

This is my biggest complaint about explaining NAT: terminology. This is the worst terminology in the world to try to explain to someone.

Essentially, not technically, inside means your equipment. not interface direction (yeah, go figure). The terms local and global refer to interface direction. So in this instance inside global would be your public IP address.

So I'm assuming that I meant for 23.1.1.2 to be the public facing IP address? If' I mislabeled something, I'll try and get an errata posted.
