So during 70-412 I enabled DNSSEC on my lab DNS zone and when it came time to use global name zones it seems that it is not compatible with a DNSSEC signed zone. Is there something I am missing or is it just unsupported?

You are not missing anything, signing GlobalNames zones is not supported.
